The Second Coming

Why are they bringing back 90210? Didn't that show end already? Have all the ideas finally dried up, someone out there surely has an idea for a TV show that would be entertaining. Hell, I could probably think of something that could be viable for primetime. I've watched plenty of TV and always seem to be drawn to shows that get cancelled so surely I must know what not to do. Actually, at least half of the shows I love end up cancelled so will I be able to separate the good from the bad? Really though let's get back to the heinous idea of bringing back this show. 90210 was always hit or miss for me and I would watch for a few years and then not watch it only to re-watch a year later. They announced the show a couple of months ago but I never wanted to acknowledge it but I faced the inevitable today. In the middle of watching something (can't remember what it was) a commercial for the new show came on and I finally had to face the future. I'm not going to pretend that I won't be watching this when it premieres in the fall I just wish the people behind this had just left well enough alone.

Models Inc:The Alternate Ending

My friend Matt recently gave me the address for a website where you can watch practically any TV show. I thought this was great and mentioned an old show that I loved and hoped would be available and that show was Models Inc. I watched this show religiously as a kid and was incredibly upset when I found out it was cancelled. Party because I wanted another season and also because I never found out who got shot during the finale. Damn those finales and their cliffhanger endings. After looking up some information on IMDB tonight I decided to check out the page for Models Inc. I read through some of the comments and found a link to a video on youtube. It seemed to promise an ending for my show. I clicked and wouldn't you know it, I found out who got shot. It's been 14 years! Who waits 14 years for a TV show? I'm not even going to pretend and play like I remember what led up to the gunshot but even still I'm happy I have an answer. I should probably start a petition online to get this show on DVD. Nevermind, there's already a petition online but wouldn't you like to join me and click HERE to add your name to the list?

The Tree and the Personality

It was an emotional send off for me with So You Think You Can Dance last night. I didn't think I would be so attached to the dancers so soon into the competition but I felt my eyes misting up watching the elimination show. How cute was it watching Comfort jump into Chris's arms after he'd been cut? So cute and dramatic. She'll be dancing with Thayne next week and I hope they step it up and don't end up in the bottom three again. Usually there are people who you're waiting to get kicked off and I don't find myself think that this season. They're all really accomplished dancers. It's just going to get harder every week.

Susan emailed me yesterday her thoughts on the show this week and I'd like to share them with you...here goes.

i can't believe you think mark is cute....b/c i ALSO think he's strangely attractive! weird! it's like that love/hate thing with him...he seemed odd at first and i didn't want to like him but he's a great dancer and is very theatrical and into everything he does. i think the whole crispin glover look is part of the gross/appealing thing about him (not that i think crispin glover is attractive, but hey, isn't he always dating some supermodel?). i don't know if you got my text about them last night (i'm not sure if it went thru) but i did like their routine a lot...partly b/c i'm into that cheesy leona lewis song.

as for the two who did the "african" dance -- i voted for them b/c i thought that was the most interesting dance of the evening. at least it kept my attention, and i haven't heard "beautiful people" since high school and i always liked that song. nigel is a dipshit and just b/c he didn't get it doesn't mean it wasn't good. i like comfort so she better not go home. as for the two who did the quickstep - good luck b/c using phil collins was a fucking death wish. all i could think about was tracy jordan asking jack donaghy if he liked phil collins and jack said something like, "do i have a heartbeat?"

She's hysterical and I hope she keeps writing about the show. Until next week when the 14 remaining dancers try their darndest to bring in the votes. Can't wait to see how Thayne and Comfort come together as partners.

16

I'm so happy they introduced a new choreographer. I thought her piece was awesome and playful and just new. It made me not dislike Kourtni and Matt so much. They were fantastic and I thought it was the best piece of the night. I wasn't completely into Napoleon and Tabitha's first dance but I loved their second one. I don't think it was Twitch and Kherrington that blew the piece for me it was the choreography. Mark and Chelsie really did a great job with theirs. In case you haven't been paying attention I think Mark is pretty cute.

Susan and I wrote a few messages back and forth with each other while we were watching the show and she decided that she wasn't feeling Courtney and Gev. She thought they were boring and I disagree. They were given a slow moving rumba and had anyone else had to dance the same routine I think she would have felt the same way. She may disagree with me and that's fine but I loved the two of them. Plus I thought Courtney looked better in the half dress than Katee did. That's not critiquing the dancing though that's purely cosmetic. Katee and Joshua were pretty good but did you take a look at his thighs? Huge ginormous mounds of muscle wrapped in spandex.

My picks for the bottom this week would definitely have to include Comfort and Chris. I don't know if people are going to "get" their performance. You can blame the dancers for not bringing it or not doing the piece justice but hey, they're dancing someone else's vision and they're not totally at fault. I usually love Tyce's dances but this wasn't one of his best. Will and Jessica with their disco will also probably be in the bottom. I didn't mind it, it wasn't bad but some of the others were better. Plus, I just don't think they have as big of a fan base as some of the others do. My final two would have to be the quickstep performed by Chelsea and Thayne. Even Nigel said they needed to get their solos ready. It could help though, people might vote for them to keep them out of the bottom but I don't think that's going to happen.

Adam Shankman is a great guest judge, he always has constructive criticism for everyone and I hope he comes back at some point later on in the season. He has personality and gives me the warm fuzzies what can I say. Let's see if I picked the right bottom three. I'm sure there has to be some kind of prize for getting them all correct...right?

Reality

Last night we had 3 different reality shows premiering. Wipeout, I Survived a Japanese Game Show and Celebrity Family Feud. I'm going to watch every single one of them. Not every week but just this week I'll watch them all. Family Feud has always been a favorite of mine and I've been watching it since I was a kid. It's tied as my favorite game show with Press Your Luck. Al Roker is hosting the celebrity edition which started last night. The celebrities weren't all that bad, Raven-Symone, Wayne Newton, Ice-T and Joan Rivers. Joan Rivers is my hero and wouldn't you know it, her team won. My love for her knows no bounds and whatever it is she's doing I'm watching. A friend bought me tickets to see her for my birthday a few years back and I've never been the same since.

There was also Primetime Live special on Amish teenagers I taped and will watch eventually. I may end up fast forwarding through a bit of it but I have to watch something new. Tuesday seems like the throw away night for the summer and it looks like it's going to be crappy reality shows from here on out. There is another new reality show on tomorrow and that's The Baby Borrowers. It's an interesting idea I just don't know what the execution is going to be like. As usual I'll watch the first episode and see what happens. It can't be any worse than watching Celebrity Circus.

The BET Awards were on as well but I haven't finished watching them yet. I'll be finishing them after work today to give you my thoughts. I did watch Alicia Keys perform and she brought out some of my favorite artists of the early 90s. En Vogue, TLC and SWV. It's amazing how you can remember all the lyrics of songs you haven't heard in years. Every inflection, pause and even some of the dance moves. It's just crazy that I remembered all of it. We'll see if there are any more throwback moments when I get through it later. Until then, don't go chasing waterfalls, please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to.

Hometown Dates

I was right, the tears were for Graham. Deanna was truly heartbroken and Graham was putting up a front while she was telling him why she cut him and then she said the one thing that I think finally broke him. D told him he was the only one she was falling in love with. I think it was right then and there that he finally got it. Graham was being such a shit. He lost her and it's his own fault. He broke her heart and then the bastard gave her a letter. WTF! This is all a bunch of BS. Why didn't he give her the letter before...goodness this sucks. Finally we get some drama and it's at the end when the boy gets cut. Is she really going to be able to find love with any of the other guys?

D went to Dallas to meet Jeremy's family and what I learned is that Jeremy got the hot genes. It's like looking at a picture of Brad Pitt standing next to his brother and realizing that Brad got the hot. Jeremy brought out the family pictures and the heartbreak over losing his parents. The two of them really seem to bond over losing their parents but it seems like that's the only thing they have in common. It's a strong bond but I don't know if it's going to be a lifelong one. D even said in a voice-over that if she picked Jeremy she would have the perfect life, house and husband. That's way too much perfect for me.

Jeremy certainly had the nicest house, but Jason's was the warmest. His family seemed the most welcoming of them all and D seemed to fit right in. There were no crazy confrontations no crazy questions just a nice get together. They played leap frog in the backyard...who even does that anymore. How much more down to earth could they get? In honor of D's background the family prepared traditional Greek food for her and when the questions got a little personal they threw the heat over to Jason. D wonders though if he has enough room in his heart for her because of all the love he has for Ty. I think he does because every time I see him look at her he's got this cute little puppy dog look in his eye and it's adorable. Is it forever though?

Jesse's family was nice, but I don't know if D will fit in with them. Is she going to want to move to his town? I can see her in Dallas with Jeremy or even in Seattle with Jason but I don't know about Breckenridge, Colorado. If she picked him I can only see it going for about 6 months and that is not the forever D's looking for. In the previews for next week when they go on overnight dates she hands him the fantasy suite card. He balks at it and says he can't because he would need to meet her dad first. She wants some booty and he's withholding? Didn't he watch Sex and the City? The girls made Charlotte sleep with Trey before the wedding and what happened with that? Give it up Jesse, you know you want to.

Seeing as I've written Jesse off that only leaves us with Jason and Jeremy. Who's going to give her a better life? Which one of them is going to keep her happy forever? Since the beginning I've been drawn to Jason and with the bachelors we have left I think he's the best choice. Sure he's got a kid and that's something new thrown at D but life is all about challenges and I think she can handle it. She's resilient and since Graham is gone now she has to make the best choice for her. Let's just hope it's the right one.

Slumming

I was watching CNN this morning and they went to a commercial break and who should show up on the screen? Phillip Baker Hall a respected actor shilling for Holiday Inn. I'm not so upset about the fact that he's selling hotels it's just the hotel that he's selling. Maybe the Holiday Inn is not the same discount hotel I used to know as a kid. Maybe there was an influx of cash and now the place is on par to say a Hyatt. Or maybe it's like a Motel 6. Okay it was never in Motel 6 territory that I know of but maybe it was closer to a Motel 6 than a Hyatt. Back to the slumming. I suppose this is why the big A list stars hawk products in foreign countries. It's one thing to lend your voice to a commercial, I keep hearing Patrick Dempsey's voice all over State Farm Insurance commercials, but quite another to actually be IN the commercial. Maybe PBH doesn't have a lot of cash on hand. P.T. Anderson didn't cast him in his last movie There Will Be Blood so perhaps he was counting on another film by the director. Wait, he shouldn't be having money problems, he's a well known actor, well, maybe a well known actor by face and not by name. If you saw him you'd recognize him (see picture above). I guess anyone could have money problems. Ed McMahon is losing his house. Poor bastard.

Missed The Daytime Emmys

I went on and on about watching every award show that came on TV and I missed one Friday night! It was only the Daytime Emmys and I'm a primetime girl. To be completely honest I knew they were coming on and figured I'd be home to watch them but in fact I went out. I missed watching the cast of General Hospital trot onstage to pick up their award for Outstanding Drama Series. Oops. The last and only soap that I watched was Passions. My best friend got me watching when it first came on and I was hooked. I watched it for about 8 months and eventually reality set in and I stopped. Every crazy situation the characters got into could have been solved with a five minute conversation. It bothered me and I couldn't take it anymore so I pretended like it no longer existed. It was extremely awesome though. Anyway, soaps are not my thing. They are however my mother's. She watches All My Children religiously Monday through Friday week in and week out. I still have memories of the crap that Erika Kane did throughout the years stuck in my brain. When I go home I watch a few minutes of it with my mom and I see all of the same people that I saw 20 years ago. And through the magic of botox, stealth plastic surgery and a soft focus lens they've barely aged a day.

I wonder if watching a soap opera for my mom is like watching Gossip Girl for me. What if GG were a daytime drama and came on 5 days a week? Would we get tired of Blair and Co? Would Lonely Boy be as intriguing? Could a show like that sustain itself for 30 years? How cool would it be to see Blair and Serena as 40 year old NYC socialites throwing parties around town and swigging champs in the Hamptons? OMG, I'm a genius, let's all band together and get GG on TV 5 days a week. We could add a bunch of new characters, knock up S & B so they could have babies on Monday, toddlers on Tuesday, tweens on Wednesday, teenagers on Thursday and be 24 by Friday. You know that's how it goes on the soaps, you have a baby and 2 months later that baby is a 6 year old. If only life worked like that.

Tickled Not Scared

I loved being scared. There's nothing like sitting in the dark getting the wits scared out of you. The first scary movie I ever remember going to see was when I was six, it was The Lost Boys. It completely scared the crap out of me. I believed it, thought it was all real and couldn't fall asleep at night. I'm still not quite sure why my father took me to see it. As a gift a few years ago he sent me the DVD and watching it almost 20 years later it was the dumbest movie, it wasn't scary at all. I'm almost embarrassed to say it scared me.

Fear itself is a horror/suspense series with a new story and director every week. I've watched the first two & as big of a chicken shit as I am when it comes to scary things I wasn't that scared. I wanted to be but I just wasn't. The second episode even had Eric Roberts in it but nothing. Libby, one of the late castaways from Lost co-starred as a peculiar woman trying to find out if her husband was cheating on her. She was kind of creepy but still nowhere near scaring the pee out of me. The director of this episode Brad Anderson directed this great Christian Bale movie The Machinist. That was weird & creepy...this was odd but didn't quite get there for me. It's network television so it probably can't get nearly as scary as say The Shining or The Exorcist. They scared the crap out of me when I was younger. Next weeks episode is directed by John Landis who's directed a bunch of movies but also directed Michael Jackson's "Thriller." Let's hope it's scary or at least creepy enough to satisfy me. I may never be content until I can't sleep without the lights on.

Goodbye

I'm surprised how attached I was to some of the dancers in the bottom three teams. I liked Comfort and Chris but I guess the rest of America didn't. That's fine, it'll just be up to me to actually vote next week. Wait, I did vote this week...and I voted for them. I only called twice though...it just wasn't enough to keep them out of the bottom three. That's fine, at least neither one of them was cut. Our faux salsa dancer Susie was though. She overheard her choreographer calling her not a true salsa dancer but a street salsa dancer and the girl was moved to tears. It's going to be a tough road ahead honey if this is what makes you tear up now. She's cut from the show and won't have to worry about it anymore, she can go back to teaching.

Susan was upset that Marquis was cut. Honestly, I don't even remember him dancing. He was visibly upset by the elimination but he was pretty unremarkable from what I saw. The judges called him out on doing tricks in his final dance instead of feeling the music and dancing from the heart. Blah, blah, blah, they probably already knew who they wanted to kick off. Do the producers have a say in who gets cut or is it only the judges? In some other reality shows, (hello Project Runway) in the ending credits it says producers are part of the decision making process of who stays and goes. I'm fine with it as long as they don't let my pieces go.

A Piece Be With You

AAAAHHH! Another piece on television this fall. I mentioned Rufus the other day and tonight I see him on a commercial for a new drama this fall. Does this mean if I mention another piece they'll also be on TV in the fall? Do I have some kind of gift that places pieces on TV? That would be a dream come true. The odds of his show making it to a second season are slim but a girl can dream. I would like to point out that this is the second drama on CBS this fall to star a piece of mine. Two shows, on CBS that I'm going to be watching? Hell has frozen over folks because I never thought I would say that in a million years. I don't watch CSI but I've caught an episode or two and I never watched again because I know I would probably get hooked. I'm all about a procdural but I think I'm just going to stick with my Law and Orders. I wonder if there's another show coming on this fall with a piece that I should know about. Why haven't I done my research? This information should already be in my head. I've got to get on this. I'll let you know if anyone else I deem worthy of being named a piece is coming. Attack of the killer pieces!

Danceteria

This week was much better for me as a whole than last week. Maybe they just needed to get the kinks out. The dancers have had the chance to get to know their partners better & it showed. They asked the dancers what their favorite and least favorite things about their partners were and some of their answers were just wrong. Kourtni said her favorite thing about her partner was that he complimented her all the time. Conceited! At least he said he liked her eyes. I’ll chalk it up to the fact that they’re young and don’t know any better.

The judges were all over the Broadway performance of Katee and Joshua. I thought it was alright I just didn't think it deserved all the praise they heaped on it. He's a popper & to think he could dance a style completely different than that is insane...that's what they say. I'm pretty sure at some point since the show has been on he mentioned he took some ballet classes. Maybe I’m making too much out of all of this.

Kind of like Mia should have let it go that Kherrington Was smiling too much. She interpreted the dance one way and Mia another. Mia is hardcore & I love that about her, she's one of my favorites but every now and then she gets a little mia-ish and communication breaks down. She'll get upset with the audience if they boo her before she gets her piece out. Whatev she a great choreographer & I doubt she thought that she'd be harassed by a bunch of teens when she started out. All is forgiven...for now.

Btw, how cute is mark? His argentine tango was pretty good in my book & did you see his face while he was dancing? Such commitment to his piece. He's definitely one of my favorites and so is Gev. He's got such a crush on his partner! I think Pasha had a crush on his partner last year too. All those hours together breathing all over one another must make for some interesting nights. Hey, I’m just saying. Let's wait until next week so I can read into more body language.

Old Friends

I love it when John and Steve are together. Funny shit always goes down. In case you missed the best interview Steve Carell has given all week it will re-air at 1am, 10am, 2pm and 8pm tomorrow. He hasn't been unfunny on the other shows, just not quite as funny. Every time he has a new project to promote he stops by the old office and pays a visit. Their chemistry is great and I can't help but smile the whole time their schticking with each other. John made a crack about Steve sleeping around in Hollywood to get to the top and I really think he caught him off guard because he almost did a spit take. Hilarity ensued and two minutes later it was all over. So sad to see it end. I guess we'll have to wait until Steve does another movie to get these two back together again. I would watch the two of them banter back and forth every night. It could be a whole lot worse...anyone catch Leno recently?

Some Might Say...

...that these reality shows are slowly killing us all. I'm still not convinced there's anything "real" about D. Richards show. No one's hair looks that good all day long does it? Who walks around their house with salon quality hair all day. Someone who knows their every move is being watched. Have their been any "real" reality shows? As much as I hate to admit it at least the Real World monkeys actually look they're just getting out of bed or coming home trashed from a party.

I get it she's a single mom. Everyone around her is telling her to take a little time out for herself and maybe even go on a date. Her sister and her friends threw a small get together at her house and what cliched party entertainment did they have? The creepy older woman with a box of dildos and vibrators...is this all middle aged women do together? I swear if my friends throw me a party like that I'll kill them. Rich and her friends were all giggly and all I'm thinking is that it's just a damn dildo. Can't wait to see what Rich has up her sleeves for the next episode! What crazy things will she end up doing next time...something tells me it won't be doing a line of coke off of the bathroom floor. She's a nice down home mother of two and they don't do things like that...anymore.

My other lack of reality show this week was Living Lohan. I still think it's better than Rich's show but only because there's always the ghost of Lindsay's past hovering over the family. Ali is a spoiled munchkin and does things that would have gotten me into so much trouble as a kid. Slamming doors was a no no. Talking back was a no no. She managed to do both and barely got scolded for it. Her own mother even slammed the door. It's all learned behavior. Whatever Ali does is a direct reflection of her mother.

Ali went out and bought a dog against her mother's wishes and came home with it. If I had done that my father would have done what has been immortalized by Bernie Mac...beat em till the white meat shows. Okay, he wouldn't have done that but I would not have been able to keep the dog. Another no no, disobeying your parents. I wonder if it's all because boomer parents want to be friends with their kids instead of a parent. I had parents growing up. My mother even told me once...I love you but that doesn't mean I have to like you. I don't remember what I did but it must have been bad. Even Nana told Dina that she should have stuck with her decision. Now there's another tiny ass dog out in the world in the hands of a quasi celeb. Damn you starlets and your teacup doggies.

Dandelions

You must be wondering why I haven't mentioned the new season of Weeds. It's because I don't watch it. Not because I don't want to but because I could never fit it in my vast TV watching schedule. I watched the first season and loved it but when season 2 came along I couldn't bring myself to watch it. That's not the entire truth. I've had my wonderful DVR for going on 5 years now and I think this is what happened. To this day I'm constantly changing around when things are getting taped because every now and again more than two shows are on at the same time that I want to record and the one that's going to repeat later on in the week or be on demand is the one that's going to get the boot. Weeds got the boot. I was always supposed to watch it later on in the week but it never happened. The second season ended, the third one was premiering but I had never seen the second, figured I'd be missing something and didn't watch. Here we are at the fourth season and I've yet to watch the 2nd or 3rd. I get it people it's hilarious and totally ridiculous that I haven't caught up yet. Netflix is around for people like me in situations like this and I tried to start from scratch with Rescue Me earlier this year. It's a great show and Denis Leary is amazing regardless of what he does. I got through the first disc and the rest of the DVDs hung out next to my TV for a month before I finally cancelled my subscription. It's too much for me. TV and Netflix do not mix in my house. I promise to watch the fourth season premiere this week sometime and write about how I don't get it because I haven't been watching. It can't be that complicated though can it...it's a show about weed.

Pyle It On

Missi Pyle is the shit. She made my last viewing of In Plain Sight completely worthwhile. It's only the third episode but the show is growing on me. It's not the best quite yet but it seems to be getting there. I don't want to get attached to another show on the off chance it gets cancelled at the end of the season. The star Mary McCormack was nominated for a Tony the other night so at least she's got a backup plan. It's always nice to have a backup plan. Christian de la Fuente who plays Mary's love interest on the show just finished his back up plan just a few weeks ago on Dancing With The Stars. Here's hoping the show stays on the air. Mainly for him but mostly for me. It doesn't matter if I'm obsessed with a show or not but a little piece of me dies every time something I watch goes off the air. Why can't they cancel 'til Death? How about 2.5 Men? I've tried to watch it, I tried to laugh, I just don't get it. Maybe I should try again, it's been over a year since I last gave it a chance. But really I don't have to give anything a chance. After one or two episodes I know if I'm going to watch it. In Plain Sight has been given a pass for the season. Congrats.

Double Trouble

Last night we had two episodes of The Bachelorette, not one but TWO. The first was a sit down with Deanna and Chris. We learned all about what she was feeling when she kicked off a few of the bachelors and again just how hard it was to do. It's a tough process we get it...let it go. We were given a little background into D’s choices and learned a little bit about them. Jason seems really attached to her. Sean is a momma’s boy and likes money big cars and houses that are way too big for him. Jeremy works really hard and barely has time for a social life. I’m wondering what kind of husband he is going to be if he’s working until 9 every night. I hope D sees this and cuts him soon, also because I’m a bit scared by his physical presence. His muscles are too defined for me and I’m starting to think that all he does is work and work out. That’s not a such a bad thing but his social skills seem to be lacking.

Jeremy talked about his feelings for Deanna to the camera and just sounded like a robot. If what he said was in the very capable hands of say Jude Law it would be different. Very different. It would sound smooth and lovely and any girl would melt at the sight. Jeremy made it sound painful, however heartfelt the words were. Whatever, she didn't kick him off...there’s nothing I can do about it.

I think I’m diseased...there were moments during Sean and Deanna's date where I actually thought he was cute. I don't know what it is...could it have been something I ate? He is a martial arts master, maybe subconsciously that intrigues me. Don't get me wrong, he did not veer off into piece territory far from it. It could have been the haircut. His modified mullet mysteriously disappeared and a haircut can make a huge difference.

D went on a one on one with Graham and she was looking at him with stars in her eyes. I'm halfway invested in this show right now and I want her to choose the right guy. Choosing someone because he's hot right now isn't good when you're thinking long term. Graham could get real fug much sooner than she thinks. But hey, she could lose her looks too and they could be fugs in love.

Shocker of the evening for me...she picked Jesse! I thought he was a goner. Jesse was sweet and she kept saying how she wanted him to make a move and when he didn’t I immediately thought she would cut him at the end. I was wrong. Perhaps when it came down to picking from the last three he was the lesser of three evils. Seriously, even though I was sort of feeling Sean this episode, there were four others where he didn't do anything for me at all. Twilley made me laugh for the first time this week and for that I kind of let Deanna off the hook for keeping his ass around for so long.

After watching the previews for the upcoming week, I can totally tell that she sent Graham home. She was crying (AGAIN) and saying how she was second guessing her decision and I doubt the tears could have been for anyone else. D was sad she sent the hot home. I never really saw it before but this week I saw the hot in Graham. It shouldn’t matter though. She’s going to pick Jason because he’s sweet, attractive and overall just comes across as a really great guy. This is all what I want to happen, she could very well end up with Jeremy and live a long boring life with a real estate attorney that loves her but doesn’t’ rock her world.

You Cheeky Monkey

This man has been on TV for the past week or so and I can't decide how I feel about him. He hosted the MTV Movie Awards a few weeks ago and last night he shared his favorite sketches from Saturday Night Live. My favorite sketch of all time was on, Philip the Hyper-Hypo. I've already posted it a couple of months ago but there's no reason to make you look it up so click here to see it. I don't want to pay to see The Love Guru so I'll probably sneak into it after paying to see Get Smart. He's probably promoting the hell out of the movie so people like me will pay to see his film and not Get Smart. Part of the reason I don't want to see the movie is because of Jessica Alba. A friend and I wasted a little time one day by trying VERY hard to think of just ONE good movie she's made. We came up with one but it wasn't her movie, it was an ensemble piece and she did what she does best...showed some skin. Sin City was a great fun movie and to call her the reason it was good is wildly crazy and I won't do it. Sure sure she was great on Dark Angel but that ended 6 years ago and James Cameron isn't around to keep her in line with every new project. Unfortunately we probably won't be seeing dear Jessica on the talk show circuit because she just had a baby. Because it's Hollywood and those people are crazy she'll probably be back in pre-pregnancy shape in 3 weeks so who knows, she just may show up on Letterman sooner than I think. Fingers crossed I'm wrong.

Tony Bonanza

I'm a sucker for an awards show. You know how they make fun of starlets that show up at every event and joke that they would show up for the opening of an envelope? I'm that way with award shows. Can't afford the good seats to the shows on Broadway yet I'll watch 3 hours of them congratulating themselves. Sounds about right to me. I have a piece named Rufus and while Rufus is not a TV piece he did have about 3 seconds of airtime tonight when they announced the nominees for Best Actor in a Play. He lost. But yet I still watched the whole broadcast. Of course I fast forwarded through a few acceptance speeches and a couple of the performances. I couldn't pass up Liza Minelli though. Damn that woman still looks good. She even had some cleavage going on. Go on Liza. If I had to choose one of the nominated plays or musicals to see I probably would choose In The Heights. Of all the performances of the night I felt it was the most spirited. And wouldn't you know it...the damn thing won Best Musical. what is the next awards show that'll be coming on? I guess the Video Music Awards...they haven't been good in years and Susan and I are always bitching about them. Do you remember the one in Miami...people pulling up in boats? Let's hope they do it right this year and take the suck out. We'll see.

Kathy Griffin Is My Hero

Seriously this woman is funny shit. I laughed so hard during the season premiere a tear fell from my eye. I suppose I can understand why people find her so polarizing but they just need to calm the f*ck down. Laugh a little, see what happens.

The episode finds Kathy joining Anderson Cooper to ring in the New Year and bringing her ragtag group of assistants along for the ride. The assistants decided they would play a drinking game and every time she called Anderson "Andy" they would take a shot. I believe I could be the best assistant KG has every had. I wouldn't need drinking games. I'd be lightheaded from laughing all day. To be around her and hear the things that come out of her mouth would be payment enough for me. Who needs money for essentials like soap and food when you can live off of the comedy emanating from this woman. I sound creepy right now. Eeeww, I don't even want to talk to me anymore.

KG attended the Producer's Guild Awards and handed out a few statues or whatever the hell they hand out and true to form she ripped a few people some new holes in places the sun could never get to. It's impossible to get the feeling across of how funny she was onstage so I suggest you watch one of the 200 repeat airings this ep will see before next Thursday. If you don't like her that's fine but I bet if you were in the audience while she was performing you'd laugh at least once if not the entire set. I have yet to see her live but if anyone is interested in taking me to see her I would not decline the offer. Think it over, assess your funds and get back to me.

20 to 18

The first team to dance Rayven and Jaime got booted off. It was sad to see them go but someone had to leave. Honestly I didn't think their dance was that bad and I wouldn't have called it my least favorite of the night either. That song they danced to may be my new favorite though. I haven't bought a CD since buying Bjork's Volta last year but I could buy Estelle's CD based off of hearing that track. Back to the dancing. I thought Kourtni an Matt deserved to go but what do I know. Nigel's probably only keeping her around because she looks like Uma Thurman every other time she turns her head. Hell, if he's got a piece he needs to hold on to who am I to judge? Did I forget to address the musical act of the episode? Shameful...the "entertainment" of the evening was The Pussycat Dolls. They were alright I guess. It would be best that we not go down this road, we may never come back.

Top 20 Dancers

It's weird this week. We finally have the top 20 dancers but we don't know much about them. Sure a few of them we've seen before during the auditions but at least half of them didn't have much or barely had any screen time. Plus they've all got to find their groove, nerves may have gotten in the way. Susan seems to think that Katee and Joshua had the best routine of the night. I'm stuck. I thought Chelsea and Thayne both had a bunch of personality and together I think they make a great pair. Did I vote for them? No, I didn't vote for anyone this week...I was distracted and didn't even watch the show live. It's the first week, I doubt I'm going to miss either of the dancers who get cut.

As for hot pieces...I don't know. I may be watching this only for the dance this season. There's nothing wrong with that but you know how I like my pieces. Twitch and Mark are kind of hot but I'm on the fence. We'll see next week. Maybe the hotness will spring out of them. I don't feel like Twitch always comes across as hot anyway. This will be up for discussion every week so let's move on.

Dan Karaty needs a tailor. His suit jackets are always way too big. I'm only picking on him because I was reading Esquire today and they were talking about how a jacket should fit. Even if I hadn't read the best men's magazine out there I would still think this. Fox can afford a tailor, get it done people.

The show as a whole was a lot more entertaining during the last 3 minutes. There was a compilation of the dances performed during the night and I have to say it was fascinating. Much more energy that watching each dance one by one. I don't know who's going home, we're just going to have to watch it together or I'll watch it and let you know who got the ax. I just hope it's not my possible pieces.

On a completely separate note if I see that Coldplay commercial from Apple again I may scream.

Premiere Night!

I'm just here to share with all of you two returning shows that are having their summer premieres tomorrow night. My Boys and Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. Both shows always have me in stitches and should no doubt have you laughing as well. Please give them a chance...there's isn't anything else on so this shouldn't be a problem. Besides, if you can't watch the premiere episodes you don't have to worry. Kathy is on Bravo and those bitches repeat everything at least 7 or 8 times before the next episode will air. As for TBS, they'll also repeat My Boys and for those of you with digital cable, there's always TBS on Demand. To be honest My Boys airs at 9:30 halfway into Kathy's show which starts at 9. I don't know about you but I have a DVR and this is never a problem for me. If you don't have a DVR go out and get one now...you're missing out. I wouldn't get to watch everything I love without it. I now thank the people who created DVR technology and move on. There's So You Think You Can Dance to watch tonight.

It's SOOOO Complicated

Her life is so damn complicated. She's so misunderstood. Whatever. I don't believe her for one minute. Doesn't she realize that life could be a lot worse. I'm sorry she lost her mother but she's not the first nor is she going to be the last person to lose a parent to cancer. I'm not trying to be mean or evil but aren't you supposed to pick yourself up from the awful things that happen and move on? To think that this exact same thing has happened to countless other people and they didn't have the gobs of child support from a Hollywood dad or a mother who was more than well off to support everyone on her own. She's not living in a FEMA trailer waiting to find out if she has somewhere else to stay.

Who cares that half of the country think she's husband stealing whore? I remember when the story came out and to be honest I couldn't have cared less. Her life isn't nearly interesting enough to warrant this show. Great, we see her getting a faux tan in her bathroom, way to kill 2 minutes...only 20 left before they've shot enough film to make an episode. She says the reason she decide to do the show is to prove that she's normal and not this crazy devil woman she's been made out to be in the press. You could have fooled me. Denise called a magazine writer/editor (I don't remember) a c*nt in her own office! She took out all of her frustration with the tabloid media out on one person and it was just a bit unnecessary. I'm not saying she didn't kind of deserve it, she asked a couple of crazy questions but Denise shouldn't have been there in the first place.

I'm bitching and I hate (not really) bitching. I should probably stop watching the show but I've already watched 3 episodes and I think there's only 6 so I'm halfway through already. There's shit on TV now so something has to fill up my DVR. If it happens to be Miss Complicated so be it.

Last Comic Standing

Let me be clear about this: any show where the main goal is to make me laugh is a-ok in my book. There's nothing to hate about this show. Okay, I've lied there is. I've been watching every season since it's inception and I have to say this is the first season they've had a sucky blonde brit as a co-host. She is unnecessary. Big blonde hair and boobs is the antithesis (i know big word) of what I believe the show to be about. Unless every contestant has to roast her before they go on she should be shot. I don't even know her name. I know that Cat Deeley from So You Think You Can Dance is just barely tolerable, this girl is worse. I should shut up about her and get one with it. Getting on, I love this show.

This season they've pulled actors from NBC shows to serve as judges for the tryouts. A great idea from my perspective. It's fun watching Toofer and Lonny from 30 Rock judge comics. A few people have stood out so far but really now it's just all about watching about a minute of tons of different comics. Like Idol and Dance and every other reality show with auditions you have the good and the bad. There are the comics that have me in stitches and the creepy people wearing costumes. So many people in costume. Comedy seems like the hardest thing and you have crazies showing up smearing frosting on their faces thinking it's funny. Yes that happened and on top of that the dude spoke in a baby voice. Super creepy.

More auditions are still to come and I can't wait for the comics to get their chance to show off the good stuff. Finding a new comedian is always a treat and I hope I find a few more this year. I could be wrong though, they could all suck and this could all be for nothing. It's two hours a week and I could be watching...right, it's the summer, I'll be watching until it ends.

Quaalude?

Any takers? CBS's new drama for the summer Swingtown is a heady trip back to the 70s during a time of free love and open marriages. I watched the promo with my grandmother a couple of weeks ago and she blanched at the idea of it. She always wants to know why everyone is always doing sexy times all over the TV screen. I get it, she's from a different generation and things were very different way back when. I however am all about the portrayal of promiscuous sex on network television. This is America and this is what we're all about.

A sample of dialogue for those of you that may have missed the premiere last Thursday. Trina was hosting a Fourth of July party and showing her new neighbor Susan around her house. They walk into Trina's bedroom and find her friend Gail on the floor in front of a glass coffee table doing lines.

Gail: Trina, thank god...do you have any coke?
Trina: Oh no honey never when I host. But I think Bud Greene has plenty. You just watch out he's more handsy than usual. (to Susan) I'm sorry haven't you met? Oh, Gail Saxon this is Susan Miller. Susan just moved into the house next door to you.
Gail (to Trina): Do you have any coke?

No pleasantries exchanged but right to the point. I like that in a partygoer. It was only the premiere episode and they had to lay out all of the characters so I'm not really going to blast the show for not being out of this world right out of the gates. I'm still going to watch it though, there's still nothing else on. I could watch reruns of SVU and start watching every incarnation of CSI but I don't feel like it. I want original television. Every single night of the week. Saturday you can have as a free day, that's what HBO is for. New movies every Saturday night like clockwork.

I suppose I'll just have to watch a few more episodes of Swingtown before my final analysis, let's just hope it doesn't get cancelled before it finds its footing. We all know how trigger happy those suits can be. I don't want another Miss Match on my hands. It was Alicia Silverstone's best work since Clueless and those bastards cancelled it. It will be fine though, it's the summer, what else are they going to put on?

Worst BBQ EVER

She cried. They raced cars and I'm still not all that attached to any of them. Don't get me wrong, I still love my single dad. Jason gets cuter every week. Hell, if she doesn't pick him in the end I will. Deanna cried during the BBQ that the guys threw her because they weren't paying enough attention to her. Boo hoo, grow up and go after what you want, don't wait for it to come to you. If you want a certain fellow (ahem Graham) to talk to you go talk to him, don't wait for him to pull his head out of his ass.

I've got to give Deanna some credit though. Kicking both men off on a date where only one of them should've had to leave takes balls. I'm convinced that she's looking for the right guy. Besides Jason though I'm not sure he's there. How do they actually pick the top 25? All I know is that she shows up in a limo and then all the meat is paraded out in front of her. How does the selection process work? I want to get in on that action. Think of all the fallen meat that didn't get picked, someone needs to clean it up...I'm free.

Ah, Chris Harrison, why are you here? You're simply the most pointless host ever. You barge in when you're not wanted and I know the things you're going to say before you say them. I should have your job, I wouldn't be as dull either. Do we really need to know that the final rose is being handed out for the evening? I'm pretty sure everyone there knows there's only one left. I'm bitching about things I can't change, let me stop. On to Brian our boosted man meat. He didn't really have a personality I could find, but I liked him. He wasn't crazy or evil just a normal seeming guy who didn't make it very far. Wait, did I say a not crazy normal guy? Serial killer alert! You know they always sneak up on you under the radar.

Speaking of crazy though...what's up with Twilley? Who is this guy and why does he keep on getting ahead? I don't get it...can't she just pick Jason and Graham. Graham to fool around with and Jason to tell all of her hopes and dreams to...I've got it all figured out. I win the prize money for getting it right. Where do I cash my check? I don't find Twilley funny at all. He's like that asshole from high school who never made you laugh and is still stuck in town and now works at the pic-n-save. Deanna, you in danger girl.

It's 95 degrees here today and too hot to stay in my apartment. I'm going to hoof it over to my local cineplex and let someone else pay for the a/c today. I'll be back tomorrow with lots of great updates on the new shows this summer and also a recap of The Bachelorette. Enjoy your afternoons friends. I'll see you later.

Late Night Roundup

Adam Sandler was pretty much on every talk show this week. Conan, Letterman, Regis & Kelly, The Daily Show and the list goes on. Is there anyone out there that hasn't heard of Adam Sandler? How about his new movie? I'm all for promoting a project but geesh. Plus he always looks like he was at home and needed to go out and buy a carton of milk and threw some clothes on. I'm not asking for an Armani tux just something that isn't a t-shirt/polo and old pants...I'm picky.

Julianne Moore was on Letterman and it turns out she's got a pretty good sense of humor. She's known for playing these dour housewives and such but she had me laughing. It was a bunch of stories about her kids but I was still entertained. She managed to describe the movie as "wildly entertaining" on both Letterman and on Regis & Kelly. I supposed after talking about something for so long you tend to say the same thing. I'm not really going to harp on this because she was wearing great shoes. She always wears weird cool heels. She and I should go shopping together. I remember Vin Diesel was doing the rounds a couple of years ago and I love him so I watched every show he was on. Unfortunately he told the same story on every show and it was verbatim! It was as though he was reading from a script. A friend said of course it would sound that way he's a meathead. Fine, but he's a hot meathead.

Dustin Hoffman was on Leno and said he was always a little uncomfortable on talk shows and wanted to tell two jokes. They were pretty good but waaaaay too long to repeat here. In the middle of the second one he repeated a joke Chris Rock had made and I think it was a joke only Chris Rock could tell because right after the punchline the audience reeled. I'm surprised there was no uproar over it because there always seems to be. Why can't people just lighten up? Jack Black also spent the week on a bunch of couches, I was paying attention I just don't think enough because nothing really springs to mind right now. He did do a roundhouse kick on Reeg & Kel but that's all I remember. Who cares though, I saw his movie and I thought it rocked. Why are you still reading this and not out seeing Kung Fu Panda. Moooove your butt and go see it now.

A Hot Piece Returns

One of my old pieces is coming back on the air! Simon Baker is so hot. Seriously I can't get enough of him. I've netflixed old bad movies he was in because I needed a new fix. OMG, I love him...I think I've said too much. For some reason I'm watching this movie Sybil on CBS right now starring Jessica Lange, best known by me for playing some crazy army wife in Blue Sky. She won an Oscar for it and it's the only thing I can ever remember she's in. Regardless, on the commercial break (I know I said I hate commercials but I was surfing the net & not paying attention) Simon comes onscreen and I hear his voice and I look up. He's coming back on the air. I'm going to get to watch my piece every week. I honestly don't even remember what the commercial said the show was about, I think time stopped for about 20 seconds and I heard nothing but "Simon Baker returns to CBS." I really only watch The New Adventures of Old Christine on CBS but I will make an exception. Bringing up Old Christine, why are they always taking it off of the air? It's a funny show and Julia Louis-Dreyfus even won another Emmy two years ago for it. What will it take for the big wigs to notice this. I want more Old Christine! Pronto. Better yet, put Old Christine on and then follow it with my piece Simon. I've got it all figured out...someone please listen to me and make this happen.

Vegas Dance

Susan and I were all over So You Think You Can Dance tonight. It is a much different show when I'm watching it with her. We were cracking jokes left and right and having a good time. Things were going well with the show and then Debbie Allen came onscreen. I don't know what happened, I can't even describe her look although I will try. It looked like she was an old grandmother from Florida. Aviator sunglasses, bright shirt and I don't even know what. We started giggling like mad and waited for her next outfit. It was better but not by much. A bright blue caftan looking woven poncho. I should be talking about the dancing not Debbie Allen's clothes!

On to the dancing. This kid Robert Murraine that was crazy good who was I'm sure a favorite to everyone who's watched this season quit. He didn't think he was capable of making it through Vegas week. Nigel had him perform a solo routine before asking him one last time if he was sure he wanted to leave. Great solo, great dancer and he just left. He should have stuck around. Seriously, there's no point in quiting once you've made it all the way there. Better to suck horrendously having tried the choroeography than to just up and leave. He better not try and come back next year.

Some bitchy girl who's name I can't remember threw a fit, not a real fit but she was annoying as hell. Pageant girl I'll call her. She didn't make the cut and after leaving the audition room kept rambling on about pageant contestants not crying in front of everyone but wating until they get back to their room to let the tears fall. Then she starting crying. Bitch please, come back next year. Someone who did come back after not making it the first time around only to make it this year was this guy Twitch. Awesome dancer and as Susan and I did not fail to notice: he's super cute. Hot piece alert!

I'm not sure anyone was nearly as cute as my piece from last year Cameron (so cute) but that's alright. Susan didn't think Cameron was anything special but what does she know? Nothing. There were a few possible pieces but I won't know for sure until next week. I'm super excited over here to watch the top 20 next Wednesday. I pray the show doesn't disappoint me. Heaven forbid it does. I don't feel like bitching anymore, I want to be nice.

Panda Express

I spent another night out not watching TV but going to the movies. I saw a screening of Kung Fu Panda last night and it was pretty damn good. When I'm at a movie and when it ends people clap I cringe. I don't see the point, the actors aren't there, no one can hear you except the audience...I'm in the audience and I hate the clapping. Wouldn't you know that at the end of KFP I clapped? I NEVER clap. The last time I remember clapping was after the trailer for the second Matrix. I couldn't hold it in I just whooped and started clapping and then the whole audience joined in. I'm such a weirdo. Anywho, loved it and fully recommend it to anyone looking for a good time. Since it was a screening and totally free I did what any smart person would do, I snuck into another movie. It wasn't nearly as good but it was free so why not. It was Made of Honor. It was McDreamy in a RomCom set in NY. Don't judge me! Please! Overall it was okay, I don't think anyone should rush out and see it. He was much better in Enchanted and who are we kidding that movie was leaps and bounds above this one.

I supposed I'll have to stay in tonight and catch up on SYTYCD. You may all be in for a treat. Susan is coming over for dinner and to watch with me...we'll see if I can talk her into doing a piece again. How can she say no, I'm making her dinner. Food is the key to getting people to do what you want. Trust.

The Strain

I started watching The Andromeda Strain last night. I think I managed to watch about 20 minutes before I decided it was time to turn it off. It could have been that I just wasn't in the mood or maybe it was too hot in my apartment...seriously, it's so hot in here. I'll be damned if I'm going to turn my a/c on already. A fan should be enough, it's going to have to do for another week or so I'm going to be stubborn and not turn it on. Anyway, The Strain is full of TV actors from TV shows past and present. Will Truman, Rey Curtis, Frank Pembleton, Ricky Stratton, Jin Kwon and Jordan Sullivan. It's just so weird watching Will and Jin doing things very different from how I know them. Hey, since Jin passed away on Lost last week he's got to find some work. I don't know if I'm going to finish The Strain. Even though I love disaster flicks I just might not be up for it. What do I know, it's still on the DVR, there's not a lot on TV this week and I may just be bored enough to finish. Only time will tell.

TV Notes

I thought about adding another show to my already full TV plate but in the end decided not to. Watching another reality show would probably kill me. I've never watched a season of the Mole and probably shouldn't start. Heaven forbid I get hooked on another show. This can't turn into another Bachelor/Bachelorette. I have to say I don't watch Survivor and I don't watch The Amazing Race. I've never watched an entire episode of Survivor and I don't plan to either. I've had enough of bitchy people. The kids on Gossip Girl are bitchy because that's the way their characters are written. Survivor bitches are bitches in real life. I'm the only one that's allowed to be bitchy. Only me!

Continuing on with the addition of shows to my TV plate I think I'm going to add a non-reality show. I missed the premiere episode because I was watching the MTV awards but it will re-air this week and I'll watch it then. In Plain Sight looks like it might be a fun summer series. Since I haven't watched it yet though I could be totally wrong. I choose to be positive for once and give it the benefit of the doubt. It's the least I can do.

There's nothing on this week! Besides SYTYCD there's Last Comic Standing which I do love. Other than that...repeats. I don't need repeats, I need my summer series to get here already. My Boys, The Closer, Weeds (I only watched the 1st season...long story) and Burn Notice. We've already established that the 4400 has been cancelled so I'm down one show. I suppose it's replacement will be In Plain Sight. I tried watching Holly Hunter in Saving Grace but it just looked like it wasn't my style so I skipped it last summer. I will be doing the same this summer. I'm not that desperate...maybe a little but not entirely.

Bachelorette Business

Ugh. This guy Ron is a tool. Thank goodness she cut him. He was super stupid when he spoke to Deanna. You should never be rude to your Bachelorette. Ever. He should have apologized which he didn't and showed his true colors and it's no wonder she kicked him off. He was so confrontational with her and it's his own fault.

On her first date of the week with Richard she sent him home. I think Deanna may be the first person to actually send someone home on the one on one date. Usually they keep the person. The date seemed to be going ok but it fell apart somewhere. She just wasn't feeling it. I'm proud of her for going with her gut feeling and kicking him off. He was a nice guy, just not the right one for her. How could he feel so much for a person he met maybe two weeks ago. Is his heart seriously broken like he says it is? I think he just threw too much out there too soon. He should have kept it just a little closer to the vest.

I was watching Jason talking on the phone to his son Ty and I’m thinking he’s got something going around in his head thinking that he’s going to bring his son home a new mommy. Is that weird? Jason is the one with my vote. He’s sensitive without being a baby and it doesn’t hurt that he’s cute. I thought he was going to break down when she presented him with the star. I’m happy that she embraced the idea of his son. I don’t think it would have been a good idea to toss a great guy aside just because he has a child. Even if she wasn’t ready to be a mom.

As for the rest of the guys, none of them have really stood out yet. I like Brian the football coach, I think it's his hair, I love it. The chef guy Robert is cool, perhaps it's just because he can cook. The snowboarder hasn't really made an impression on me but it's still early enough that my feelings could change. Overall the episode was ok. Ellen DeGeneres made a cameo with the guys coming to her set and she asked them a bunch of questions. That was nice but we'll see what happens next week. In the previews we see Deanna confronting the guys and we see tears fall. Yay, they made her cry. Woohoo!

MTV Movie Awards 08

You know for someone who doesn’t like MTV I sure seem to be watching a lot of it lately. Last night was the movie awards on MTV, their annual send up of the films people actually did watch. Unlike the Oscars these awards give statuettes of golden popcorn for crazy categories like Best Villain and Best Kiss. Mike Meyers hosted this year and he did a pretty good job. You don’t really have to do all that much, the show is only 2 hours and they only hand out about 8 awards.

The show was live this year which is new to me. I remember it always being pre-taped before and hearing bits and pieces about it before it even aired. Perhaps in this age with all the blogs and the fast pace of the internet that they had to air the show live. Who would watch an awards show when they already know the winners and have already seen the pictures of the stars? Well, I would but I don’t count I watch almost every award show. I even watch the People’s Choice Awards and those are the worst awards of all. There are only 3 people in each category and you always know who’s going to win by scanning the audience to see who’s there. The same thing happens with the MTV awards. I watched it with my aunt pointed out Michael Bay the director of Transformers and said he obviously won something because he wouldn’t have been there otherwise. Transformers then won the last award of the night…Best Movie.

There were a couple of the highlights from the show. Mike Meyers in a bit about Bucky Eisenstein the animal wrangler for movies. It wasn’t laugh out loud funny for me but I found it enjoyable to watch. The trio from Tropic Thunder (Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr.) did a video piece about viral videos that wasn’t too bad. I laughed when RDJr. kicked Jack Black in the balls a couple of times. Seth Rogen and James Franco from The Pineapple Express brought what looked like a bag of weed and a blunt onstage and proceeded to smoke it. I can’t tell if it was all a joke or not but the camera did pan out right after they pulled out the pot and didn’t zoom back in until they announced the winner. Was that the sensors or just the director since half of the audience in probably under 20?

The show didn’t seem like a huge waste of time like usual for me this year. I suppose it could have been worse though, it could have been so bad I turned it off which surprisingly it wasn’t. I wasn’t blown away by the Pussycat Dolls and the Coldplay song isn’t going to turn into my new favorite. What I have to look out for is the Video Music Awards. They haven’t been any good in so long I’m not even sure why they still bother. Until I watch MTV again, oh wait, My Super Sweet 16 is new this week. Never mind.

Sex and the City

I saw the movie Friday morning on the last day of the vacay. There was this tiny theater on the island in the back of this shopping center and I had to see the movie so I sacrificed seeing it in a huge theater in NY with friends and great sound and a huge screen to watch it there. It was worth it, my cousin came with me and I enjoyed nearly every minute of the movie. Plus my ticket was only $6.50 which was awesome.

I’ve read a few of the reviews and some of them weren’t so kind. I went into the movie a huge fan of the show and with semi high expectations. As a huge fan I wasn’t disappointed. Sitting there watching the movie I was feeling as though one of my good friends had finally called me back after years of never returning my calls. It seemed like a REALLY long version of the show, instead of every story dragging out through a whole season they were all wrapped up in 2.25 hours. I understand some of the criticism with the length, my friend Susan thinks all movies should be an hour and a half long, I completely disagree. If it’s good it should be as long as it needs to be. I don’t think I would have been happy with a ninety minute SATC movie. It dragged for a few minutes in the middle which I remember noticing at the time but now that I’m out of the movie I can’t remember where it was…perhaps Jennifer Hudson was in that scene. Love her love her voice but I don’t know if acting is where she needs to be hanging out.

I’m not a huge fan of spoilers and I hate reading movie reviews where they give you the plot instead of a review so I think I’m going to leave it like this. I haven’t spoiled anything if you haven’t seen it. I’ll pretty much go see any movie regardless about what it’s about so even if this movie was crazy awful I would have paid to see it. I know everyone’s not like this but if you enjoyed the show I’m pretty sure you’re going to enjoy the movie. Forget about Oscar winning performances and just go for fun. This was never meant to be Citizen Kane. It’s the summer go in forget about everything and just enjoy yourself, I did.
